Carbide Buttons For DTH Bits

Tungsten carbides are a significant role in productive and efficient rock drilling. In DTH drilling, sintered carbide buttons for DTH bits are also the first choice thanks to their wear resistance, longevity, and efficiency.

KoneCarbide supplies premium and consistent quality tungsten carbide buttons for DTH bits. As an ISO-certified tungsten carbide products supplier, we can provide the most suitable grade for your projects. All the DTH carbide buttons in varied shapes, grades, and sizes are manufactured at our own factory and with the latest technology. We use 100% virgin tungsten carbide materials to ensure the quality at the source. The HIP sintering process improves the mechanical properties and workability of our DTH button bits. With quality inspections, we can guarantee the consistent quality of our DTH carbide buttons and continuously enhance our tungsten carbide technologies.

How To Choose Carbide Buttons For DTH Bits

When selecting carbide buttons for DTH bits, we often make the decision based on the button shape. Different shapes have different features and perform differently when inserted in DTH bits with different faces. Basically, there are five shapes: conical, full ballistic, semi ballistic, crown point, and hemispherical. Here are some guidelines for selecting carbide button shapes.

  • Conical and full ballistic buttons have a shorter lifetime and are susceptible to breaks due to their sharp heads.
  • Crown point and hemispherical buttons have a longer lifetime and are less susceptible to breaks due to round heads.
  • A DTH bit with more and smaller diameter carbide buttons results in faster penetration rates but a shorter lifetime of carbide buttons and the bit. Plus, for softer rock drilling.
  • A DTH bit with fewer and larger diameter carbide buttons results in slower penetration rates but a longer lifetime of carbide buttons and the bit. Plus, for harder rock drilling and vibration increases.
